In many cases, however, vision correction is advisable and a personal benefit. For children and adolescents, good vision is in any case an important prerequisite for school and everyday life.

**Contact lenses

Each eye is unique (to be compared with a fingerprint), so there is no standard solution for contact lenses. Contact lenses must be precisely fitted to the individual requirements and needs of the lens wearer. Before a suitable contact lens system or, if required, contact lenses can be custom-made, an individual fitting and the determination of specific data is required. Today, lens wear has become a matter of course and is a useful supplement to glasses. In order to ensure the greatest possible comfort in vision and wearing for the lens wearer in the long term, regular checks are also important after purchase!

Function The contact lens floats on the tear film and does not touch the cornea. The tear fluid is a part of the optical system and complements the corrective effect of the contact lens. Therefore, even high-grade refractive errors can be corrected with ultra-thin contact lenses.

Stable gas permeable contact lenses. These are so-called semi-hard contact lenses and cannot be compared with the former hard lenses. This type has proven itself for many years and most types of refractive errors can be ideally corrected. The acclimatization period is about 2-3 weeks. Compared to other types of contact lenses, they have a long life and are easy to maintain.

Soft (hydrophilic) contact lenses. Here we generally distinguish two types of soft contact lenses. One is the individually fitted conventional contact lenses and the other is the replacement lenses, popularly known as disposable lenses.
Conventional contact lenses are made to measure, using the measured data such as the geometry of the cornea and on the shape of the eye. Soft lenses are characterized by their spontaneous tolerance. Losing the inserted lenses is practically impossible, which makes them very suitable for athletes.
Soft contact lenses require intensive care and regular checks by the optician.

Replacement lenses Replacement lenses or the so-called disposable lenses are prefabricated and are available in limited geometry and shape. Soft contact lenses require intensive care and regular check-ups by the optician.

These lenses are available in daily, 2-weekly and monthly replacement cycles, i.e. they are regularly replaced with new, hygienically perfect lenses. This reduces the amount of care required and any problems caused by deposits or worn material.
The disposable lens is designed for daytime wear and must not be worn overnight, i.e. during sleep.

Exchange lenses for extended wear. These lenses are also prefabricated and are available in limited geometry and shape.
They can be reproduced very inexpensively and completely identically thanks to sophisticated and automated manufacturing processes. The exchange lens system requires regular follow-up eye checks by the contact lens specialist.

The contact lens for "far and near ". For sharp vision at any distance, the elasticity of the eye lens is of great importance. No matter where we direct our gaze, our eyes immediately adjust to the correct visual acuity. After the age of 40, the lenses of the eye lose their elasticity and visual impairment occurs at close range. Seeing while reading, working on the computer or shopping becomes difficult.
The new multifocal contact lenses are a comfortable alternative for good vision at any distance with an unrestricted field of vision. They are available as a dimensionally stable gas-permeable contact lens or as a soft contact lens.
