Binzoni Opticien - Lunetterie de Chauderon SA (Lausanne)

Binzoni Opticien was founded in 1939 by Joseph Binzoni.

He set up store at Place Chauderon 26 in Lausanne. His daughter, Ginette Binzoni, began her optician's studies in the family business in 1946, and four years later became Switzerland's first female optician. Ten years later, her brother Michel Binzoni followed in her footsteps. In 1977, Ginette's son Ghislain Porthault followed in his mother's footsteps and began his apprenticeship in the store alongside his grandfather and uncle.

In 1987, Binzoni Opticien became a family-owned limited company.

In the 90s, Joseph Binzoni retired from the business, leaving his son to run it alone. Michel, still assisted by his nephew Ghislain, continued to develop the company. In December 1995, with a view to offering new services, the store moved to larger premises at Place Chauderon 5, and was able to set up a contact lens fitting center.

In 2002, Ghislain Porthault took over the family business and brought a new dynamism to Binzoni Opticien.
